With the economy being worse than ever before, going on vacation seems like a pipe dream for many people. It does not have to be that way though. While staying in 5 star hotels and going to fancy restaurants every night might not be an option, there are still ways to enjoy your vacation. There are several Greek islands where you can enjoy a cheap, yet wonderful vacation, if only you follow some basic tips.
Budget tips for vacationing in the Greek islands
Santorini
One of the most beautiful islands of Cyclades in Greece, Santorini is an excellent choice if you are the romantic type and want to enjoy your honeymoon or simply spend quality time with your life partner. While it is generally considered to be a bit expensive, there are ways to enjoy your stay over there, without spending much money.
Hotel accommodation
1. Donna's house
Situated in the village of Pyrgos, right in the centre of Santorini, the hotel well known as Donna's house consists of 7 double rooms and 1 quadruple room. All rooms are decorated in soft colors and traditionally furnished. All of them have air-conditioning, fridge, satellite TV and a hair dryer. Wireless Internet is also available at no cost. If you wish to be transferred from the airport or the port straight to the hotel, the hotel personnel can arrange that for you. If you want to relax and enjoy your morning paper or a cup of coffee, look no further than the garden. Full of roses and geraniums, this garden is a true oasis, offered to you for free. Double rooms cost from € 70 to € 90 a day, with breakfast included in the price. This is one fine place to stay during your vacation in Santorini and pay little, without sacrificing quality in the least.
2. Glykeria studios
If you definitely want a sea view from your room, Glykeria studios is the right place from you. 12 km away from the airport and 7 from the port, Glykeria studios offers 8 studios. Traditionally decorated studios are available for 2, 3 and even 4 people, all of them include private bathrooms, kitchen, TV, air conditioning, as well as a safe deposit box. Next to the hotel there is a bus station, which can be proven to be especially helpful if you are planning on visiting the entire island. Typically, a double room with a sea view costs from € 60 to € 90, a triple room with a sea view from € 70 to € 100, while a superior family room (a room for four people) costs from €85-€120.
