Having your ex as a friend

Having your ex as a friend is generally a bad idea. First of all, you broke up for a reason. Why would you try to ease the pain with the possibility of friendship? Sure this may work for some, but look at the future consequences:

1.) Being friends with your ex enables them to think they still have control over you. (ex:where are you going, who are you going to be with?,etc..)

2.) Future companions shy away from those who are involved with their ex. Reason: people will avoid conflict at all costs.

3.) If you are lucky enough to be in another relationship, you will break your ex's heart, again.

4.) If they become involved in a relationship, you will have your heart broken.

5.) Assuming that the two of you had a sexual relationship, that will be expected to continue also.

6.) Last but not least- Friendships are the basis for hope of rekindling the flame you once had. Cool concept, not so much reality.

Best bet- Surround yourself with the friends you've had for years, remember the good times you had with your ex, and leave it at that.
