Would You Rather Be Interesting, Useful or Both?

If I had to choose between being useful or being interesting, I would choose to be useful. Of course, I would rather be thought of as both. I think when you are useful; you automatically become an interesting person. Usefulness gives you the ability to help other people with a variety of things. If you are only interesting, you are limited to talking about useful things and telling great stories.

I love to speak to interesting people who tell stories. There is so much you can learn about from all their experiences. On the other hand, I love useful people. They have the ability to help me to help others. An interesting person does absolutely no good when I need to get something done, unless they are well versed in the subject, I need information about.

When I am in the mood to listen and relax then I would rather be around an interesting person. There is nothing I love more than to hear people tell stories of their life. It is priceless to the expression on their face change as they tell their story. I have observed that the elderly seem to have the best of all life stories. When you are working, it is nice to have a person by your side that will help you. It is also great if that same person is interesting and makes the time go by quickly, and the work seems easier.

To sum everything up, I believe that useful people are the most interesting people. They know how to do things and are the best at getting things done. They can help or just give useful tips on many different subjects. Useful people are right there and ready to lend a helping hand. Interesting people, on the other hand, are not always useful. We have all met people who talk the talk and don't walk the walk. Most claim to know a lot about everything and many know little about anything. When it comes to my friends, I choose useful people who are interesting.  I would like to think that is the kind of person I am.

I believe that interesting people do not have to be useful. More often than not, useful people are very interesting. I love to be around both types of people. They are necessary in our quest to quench our thirst for knowledge. An interesting person is like a good book that you just can't put down. Even though you want to know the outcome, the story is so great that you don't want it to end. A useful person teaches us how to do things and to have patience and perseverance. To sum it up, I believe that we need one type of person almost as much as we need the other. We learn from both, but seem to get more done with useful people. It is a real bonus when we find both qualities in one person!
