While Christina Aguilera’s past is filled with popularity and success that is no longer the case. It seemed for the longest time that she had the “Midas touch”; everything she sang was a golden hit. However, her golden touch did not seem to work when she made the album “Bionic”. The United States did not readily accept the album and it only sold a dismal amount of just over 100,000 copies.
Even before “Bionic” hit the shelves people were already talking about the doubts they had that this would be the comeback that Aguilera was surely hoping for. Once it was on the shelf, this prediction proved to be the correct as it certainly was not the success she had experienced with her past music. On top of that before it even came out, it had been leaked, which allowed people to get the album, before it officially came out and left it open for criticism by the press.
If that wasn’t the slap in the face, her international sales such as the UK, proved that it was not just a U.S. failure but it was also a failure in the other countries. Many people were sure that this album would not make it, and now they could be sure that it was over before it started, and no amount of hype was going to get people excited about the Christina Aguilera disappointment.
There were many other reasons that this album failed as well, one included the inaccessibility of Aguilera to the press and the fact that she canceled the tour that would have helped her cause. It made her look like she would make it, even without the help of her fans and positive press. Another problem was the fact that the album was all over the place, she changed her normal sound that was a success in the past to something new, which actually did not work for her at all.
While most people think that Christina Aguilera is still as talented as always, they think she should go back to the music that she is good at already. She should also remember that positive press is good because it usually makes people curious about why they gave the album a positive review, lastly showing respect to her fans is the best way to get them coming back for more. Aguilera is still one of the favorites of the past, but what of her future is she sticks with albums such as the failure that is “Bionic”.
