Reflections: Judging

by Cultural Countess

Created on: July 30, 2010

We live in a world where everyone is quick to judge someone else, everyone is quick to call out another person's flaws, and put them down. We are now in a world where everyone is placed in a category, where close-minded people roam, flocking together like geese. Why? Why is it so hard for one person to see another person as just that... a person. Judging is the basis of discrimination and stereotypes, something the world just can't seem to escape. This all just instills fear in the people of the world and don't give them the strength to shine through the way they want to. Older women and men are getting face-lifts and hair plugs because of what others may think. They're trying to keep up with their sons and daughters, and friends who are just as fake as they are. White people are scared to express how they feel about certain non-white issues because of what other demographics may think. They're scared to be seen in certain neighborhoods, listening to certain music, hanging with certain crowds, because of what the others may think. Women are scared to step into a man's world, afraid that they are not equal to the task and will be treated similarly. They're scared that their work won't add up to that of a man's, because of stereotypes. People of different religions are afraid to express their thoughts and beliefs and embrace their culture because of how others will react. Everyone is scared of how other people will react to their differences, but the truth is, everyone is different no one is perfect…everyone is beautiful and everyone is equal.

The statistics on how discrimination circulates throughout this world and manipulates minds old and young into opposing and judging, are ridiculous. It is
