Truth: In today’s social-economic world in which we live, truth has become subjective at best. One man's truth is another man's deception.
The truth of the matter is that there are always three sides to every story and the truth gets mixed in all three. If one looks at the three sides of a story; my side, your side and the truth, we find truth sometimes gets lost in translation. So who is right?
The old way to define truth is that the other person can look you in the eye and you knew, yeah, he shooting straight with me. In a culture of deception in which we find ourselves living in, that same person can look dead in your eye and tell you something the giver knows is not true, yet his delivery is so believable, what are we to believe.
So where is one to turn for truth? Our political leaders have become masters of ‘spin’, are they telling us the truth? Our religious leaders ‘preach’ the truth, but for some, speak out of both sides of their mouths. They engage in activities that might become scandalizes at best. So are they telling us the truth?
Is their truth in reality? Some live their lives by the motto ‘if I believe it, it must be true’, or ‘if I say it, it must be true’. History has shown, many leaders who infused their ideology into reality and proved one could bend the truth for their agenda and promote mass chaos among its citizens. Where they telling us the truth?
So is all lost, lost in the reality of half truths? Where does one turn to pure truth, truth undefiled? This is one of the meanings of life, life as we know it. The form of integrity has to be mentioned in a discussion of truth. If truth is subjective, then person integrity has to be the solid, somewhat the missing piece of the puzzle.
If a person has personal integrity how could they look another in the eye and tell a lie. It would be next to impossible to do so. If we stopped and thought about someone who holds a high station in our opinion and who we hold in high regard as to always telling us the truth. This same person we ever thought to ourselves, hmmm, are they telling the truth? A strong argument could be made that it doesn’t happen often.
So if truth is subjective, then personal integrity has to answer any question. Truth as a goal could and should be found in reality, along side personal integrity.
