Robbery in the game of Mafia Wars is not necessarily due to inherent player meanness. It's a criminal game and criminals steal. Robbing property is a daily fact of Mafia Wars life because it's an easy way to get money for the weapons, vehicles and other items needed to do jobs and level up. If you choose not to Attack other players who Attack you, Robbery is the best way to retaliate without getting into a one on one confrontation.

Mafia Wars adversaries are going to rob you. There is very little you can do about that; but there are a few things you can do to minimize your risk.

Collect Your Money on a Timely Basis

As your criminal enterprises spread across the globe, you will establish businesses in new York, Cuba, Bangkok, Moscow and Las Vegas. That's a lot of responsibility; still you must take care of business or suffer the consequences. Once Properties are up and running, they carry on in your absence. All you have to do is collect the money.

Each property has a timer that shows when your take will be ready to collect. Monitoring the schedules is a bit tedious, but check your properties periodically, collect your cash on a timely basis before a robber gets to it first; and deposit the money in the bank or your Las Vegas vault. Robbers can't rob if there's nothing left for them to steal.

To prevent personal robberies due to Attack, deposit your earnings promptly. To deal with the small Attack window of opportunity between the time you collect your take and deposit it in the bank, complete your financial transactions only after your health has dipped below 20. Once your health is that far diminished, no one can take your money by attacking your Mafia Wars character.

To avoid exposing uncollected business earnings to potential Robbery,  Fight until your health dips below 20, then collect.

Grow your family

As you become a seasoned Mafia Wars gangster, you will understand the power of Family. Gaining levels and using Skill Points are key to the development of power and strength; but the number of Family members you have may be even more important.

As you add family members, Mafia Wars assigns an Attack and Defense Skill rating that calculates your Skill Points and inventory item ratings (don't ask me to explain it. I can't) and adds in your family's Attack and Defense strength as well. This cumulative family strength is available to you during criminal confrontations and includes up to the strongest 501 members your Family.
