In her Truths she stood firmly
Promising future planned with her lover
Hard times was in her past
She always smiled
Shrugged it off and managed to recover
Her strength resembles gold-parched bronze
Sculpture of her silhouette that endures through the hailing winds
Lade with spectacular awe as Queen Sheba
Arms of Ebony that nursed her babes back to health
Rich in personality and spiritual wealth
Her lips of splendor planted romantic kisses on her lover
Benevolence stood tall
Divorce
College Bills for children
Bill collectors
Unfaithful Lover...said he'd always be by her side
Two jobs she's worked...and still can't make ends connect or tie
Struggle she was acquainted with
Not the typical Hollywood love scene
Look at all she has survived
Truth is she took on responsibilities meant for two
Truth is that struggle painted her life
The scene was written by struggle
Vigorously she worked to rewrite the scene
Opposition was uninvited..still she contended with it
Instead of doing the hard thing which was to quit
Her legs stood firmly In Her Truths
Until one day her truths were just as faded as a bleached out pair of jeans
Just a fading, drifting, evaporated memory

I awoke with such trepidation.
There was something I wanted to do.
Something to make me believe in myself,
something I felt
