"Demons & Shadows"

Demons and shadows
everywhere I look, I turn
there they are
Can't escape, can't run
the inner demons and shadows
in my heart, in my life

Their voices tell me
I'm a loser-
a loser, a loser, a loser.
And I try, try, try
to ignore and push them aside
but I cannot for I am weak

My weakness is their strength
and I cannot cry
cannot be strong
Not when I'm so tired
Tired of the stress, the expectations
Everything and anything

I still have hope, I still have dreams
but each and every day that I try,
Try to reach them only to fall
further and further behind
and lose sight of them both

How the demons and shadows win
when I feel like I do
A reject, a loser, nothing special about me
They continue to fed on all
that I am and am not.
