I feel cold and hard.
You are slippery as lard.
But I have always loved you so.
My heart strings are tied in a bow.
What happened to us my dear.
My woes can you really hear?
Did the years pass us by?
And we now we wait to die.
Where is the love we had.
You know it wasn't all bad.
Now you stay because we're a sock and shoe.
They don't fit anymore. What should I do?
Admit to love long gone somewhere.
Oh, how my heart in two does tear.
You look at me and what do you see?
An old woman that's unhappy as can be.
I want to feel your love, your warmth and smile.
I know it just might take quite a while.
I am numb; push the pins and needles in.
I hear raindrops falling on the roof that's tin.
Wish to God we could cuddle in the bed.
And sweet words of nothing could be said.
I am a widow with a living man.
I want to feel again and I know we can.
End this distance and put it aside.
In your arms again I want to abide.
I'm not too old, crippled, and gray
To enjoy your warm touch come what may.
Perhaps tonight will be the night.
You'll turn off the tv and the overhead light.
And make me feel again all that was there.
And my heart will never have to tear.
I bear this loneliness alone.
I never hear you moan.
It's as if you don't care.
Or you are simply unaware.
I cannot bear the silence that mocks me
And speaks of things that certainly could be.
But the mountains and the valleys stand tall.
And they've become our marriage wall.
Keeping us from feeling again.
Oh, I will never understand men.
I wrote you a poem to reach your heart.
And when you read it, please don't fart!
I mean the words, let's feel again,
I love you more than all men.
And want you by my side.
And I want the numbness to subside!
God, how can I get through to you,
I've said and done all I can do.
I am wilting without your love.
God in heaven sees from above.
That we as a couple are drying up.
After so many years is this our bitter cup?
Let's feel again. Let's kick in a spark.
Even if at first it feels just like a lark!
