Poetry: I'll be fine

It's alright, you can tell me.

Lord knows I've made enough of a fool of myself over you already.

I know you love her...and you want to be married.

Let me assure you that, I hope you'll be very happy.

I promise not to cry, it would not change anything.

Our friendship was doomed from the beginning.

It wasn't your fault, I just wanted it too much.

I thought I had a chance, but now I see that was wishful thinking.

Thank you for being honest.

You never lied to hide from my tyrant.

You were braver than anyone before, it only made me love you more.

Now that love must churn to a dutiful respect.

It's the only option left.

Please don't worry about my tears.

I'll smile warmly for the bride.

I'll shake her hand and tell her I'm glad.

And it will be the truth, no underhanded plans.

I'll be fine and please don't laugh.

This is hard enough to say without you're refrain.

I'll be fine and I'll rise another day.

Just please excuse me while I turn away.

Then I promise I'll be fine.
