It was a wonderful start to a tragic day that I will never forget. I awoke to find my mom had taken the truck up to the store and it was me and my younger brothers home alone. We hadn't had time in the past few years to enjoy this kind of quality time together so I made the best of it that I could. See, we were all split up a few years earlier when my mom and their dad divorced. Their dad had taken them and they never got a chance to live with my mom. And it was rare they got to even spend time with her. It was a very special weekend as my mom was stable enough to do this. So, that morning was the best we had ever had. I remember every single moment of the day. We played a very interesting game of hide and seek inside and outside the house. Our dog Jake even joined in on the fun. My mom arrived with a few special treats for us and started planning out our day. We went over a few ideas of what we would do and finally decided on a 2 hour trip through the mountains to a small town on the opposite side. We stopped to get food and fueled up and headed out. She recovered well but still had small episodes occasionally of dizziness and being lightheaded. She kept on her daily regiment of medication that calmed the after effects and seemed to be just fine. I believe this was caused due to a medication she had been taking for high blood pressure called Lipitor. It is a very dangerous medication and can have deadly side effects. I wish she had never taken them...
Continuing with my story, we had about an hours worth of fun at this spot. We decided to leave and continue on down the road to our destination. My mom really wanted to drive and I really regret letting her do this but I let her drive. I did because it had been so long since she even seen my younger brothers and I felt she should be able to feel good if she wanted to, so I let her drive. I have regretted that decision since, but I know she was happy. We continued on the
