Short stories: Dancing

by Amanda Sullivan

Created on: July 27, 2010

She had always loved to dance. Ever since she was a little girl she had wanted to be a ballerina. Her parents had bought her ballerina slippers for her fourth birthday and for her fifth birthday she was enrolled in ballet class. She had so much fun twirling and making curtsies. She loved being on stage and hearing the cheers. She knew that one day she would be a famous ballerina.

It took a lot of practice and a lot of work, but she didn't mind. In fact, she loved every minute of it. There was no time for dating or anything except dancing.

Everyone said, "Tina is going to be a famous ballerina."

She had the talent and the desire to be the best ballerina. She felt the wind in her hair as she twirled on her tip toes. Many people have trouble dancing on their toes, but she never did. As long as she had her ballet shoes she could dance on her toes for hours. Even though she was now eighteen, she still had her first ballet shoes. She looked at them many times and remembered the first time she had danced in them. She had stretched up as high as she could on her toes. She had barely been able to twirl, but the more she had practiced the easier it was. Now she was as graceful as a swan.

She was the star ballerina in the show tonight. She was Tina the Swan Princess tonight. She had never had much time for dating, but she found herself attracted to the man who was playing the part of the Prince. He seemed equally attracted to her. Everyone said they danced so well together. That was part of the reason why they had fallen for each other.

Tina watched as her leading man danced on stage. He was so handsome and graceful. He jumped and glided. He twirled and stretched. It was a wonderful sight. Then it was her turn. She glided on stage. She twirled on her toes. She jumped and he caught her. Then they began to dance together. They were so smooth, so professional. They smiled at each other and the crowd. They felt the music and were lost in the world of dance.

When the ballet ended Tina and her Prince came on to the stage. He held her hand and bowed while she curtsied. The crowd cheered. They threw roses and even some money onto the stage. The ballet was a huge success thanks to the star ballerina and her leading man. The crowd cheered loudly. "Dance! Dance! Dance!"

Tina and her Prince began to dance as they exited the stage. "Dance with me forever, Tina my Ballerina." the Prince who's name was Tom said to her in private.

"Yes. I will." said Tina and they danced again for a long time.
