Spirit in life

Have you ever been in the darkest alleys at the darkest hours when you suffered and needed a helping hand to make it through the worst possible? Was there a time when you relied on other people, even though you never wanted to, but you were left with no other options? You never wanted anything from anyone; you made your own living. However at this moment you wanted someone to hold your hand, to be there for you when you most wanted and needed it.

We let our spirit fly and bring joy to those who might have forgotten it completely. It is the strength within us, the power of all switches. And for the time being we let go and abandon our problems, which will be at the back of our heads, not forgotten and missing, only pushed aside to be solved at a later time, and we will be at the disposal – a friendly encounter – of those who might or might not even count on us.

If we would see someone suffer why wouldn’t we help him? If would we see that he is in a gutter, but before he was the one who cheated us out from the workplace we had, would we still leave him freeze to death in his own vomit? If we did, we would be just like him, no different. We were the ones, for some particular reason, who wandered around that place and we would happen to be the ones who could save his life. Why wouldn’t we? Would we hate him? Would hate explain everything? Would hate come before love?

We could pity him, but that pity could be turned to something else instead; forgiveness sprung from the fountain of love, mercy sprung from the lifesaving oasis in the middle of an Arabic desert.

There is always a connection. There is always a reason. Nothing happens without it. It could be asked, it could be given, it could be shown – the ways, which we want to head toward. But it stems from the fact that we want to give the most we can to humanity, because it is inside us, we have plenty of it. We have time and we want to care. We want to share it with the world. We do not want to leave it behind. It is our world, which we want to form and make better.

In the enlightened minutes we can feel connected to human beings and to the universe. This is an experience of moral and spiritual nearness to the Creator of all, and we wouldn’t want this to slip away.  This is also what we feel when we are there to be leaned on. We make a difference. We are there at some critical step, which, without us, wouldn’t be possible. It enlightens the soul. It gives meaning to its existence and it gives reason to continue on existing.
