Energy usage can be very expensive particularly during the recession and how the cost of energy is rapidly increasing. But you can save money by using less energy in your home. This depends on your house quality and the living conditions inside. Most of the time, people unknowingly don’t realise that poor house insulation can cause a significant loss in energy and will make you spend more money than you would normally. Read below to learn how you can conserve energy and receive lower bills throughout your lifetime!
1) Wall cavity!
One of the most important things you need to do is improve your insulation. It helps secure heat around your home which reduces the use of the heater and could make a significant difference to your heating bills every year. In many poor insulated homes, a lot of heat can escape through cracks and loft spaces. This is why the inside of a home turns cold in a matter of a few hours. Installing insulation does cost money, but you will certainly be earning the cash back through cheaper house bills.
2) Double glaze your windows!
Many homes that still have single glazed windows are wasting their money over and over again. These types of windows bring in plenty of cold air from the outdoors and result in a colder room. This is when people have to continuously re-heat their homes throughout the whole day and night without any benefit. Constant usage of the heater can cause very high bill payments and yet your home is not secure with warmth at all. However, double glazing helps keep heat inside and can keep traffic and other noises out the house. You can save over hundreds of pounds a year by getting double glazed windows fixed. This can also save several hundred kilograms of emissions a year.
3) Draught proofing!
Draught excluders prevent heat escaping through the cracks and holes around doors and other openings. These are simple to install and cheap as well. They can cut as much as a few hundred kilograms of emissions a year. You only need to remember that a few hours of heating will be enough. Don’t waste energy by overheating your rooms.
4) Less water when showering!
Low-flow showerheads are very cheap to buy. They help reduce the use of extra water and the heating costs. This will save you from paying more water and gas bills all year round.
Overall, there are several ways you can easily mend the amount of energy you use whether it be for a cheaper way of living or healing the world. The only requirement is for you to invest some money first to successfully reduce your bills by hundreds of pounds every year without an end.
