Every generation has their blonde bombshell. She is a brave female with the girl power to shatter the rules of society and inspire the imagination of the masses which often brings the double edged sword of criticism and admiration for her boldness of style and courage of her convictions.

In the 1980’s Madonna hit the scene. In the infant years of MTV Madonna was the perfect bride. Bold, innovative and entertaining shows with many dancers, dancing on stage in her underwear with bustiers a blazing, she shocked the world at that time. After Madonna established herself as a pop icon she also became a fashion icon everyone wanted to know who and what Madonna was wearing. Her ever changing hair styles were a constant topic of discussion with fashionistas of the day and also with Wall St. because Madonna with licensing, videos, movies and tours and was big business.

Madonna took her fame and her popularity with the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) community and became a spokesperson for AIDS awareness, as the public was just learning about the devastating effects of AIDS at the time.

Madonna was always in the middle of controversy. From her songs “Like a Virgin”, “Material Girl” which spoke of women empowering themselves and taking a more dominant role with sex and money something that was a bit uncomfortable to the status quo. She had other songs like “Papa Don’t Preach” which spoke of teenaged pregnancy and her controversial “Like a Prayer” video featured a black Jesus. Madonna was always stirring the pot and became a strong female presence in pop culture. She tends to take the role of queen as she appears to christen the new ladies of pop, Brittany with a kiss and Lady Gaga with a television appearance together.

Both Madonna and Lady Gaga started out in urban surroundings Madonna in the Detroit area, Gaga in New York they shaped their personas and became icons of Fashion and girl power. Lady Gaga with videos like “Bad Romance” and “Poker Face” brought a new level of barley there and fabulous fashion. Breaking out from the lack of creativity being shown in the previous decade, Lady Gaga is definitely something completely different. Although you can see that she borrows from the best here and there she makes it her own and takes it the next step inspiring millions of fans she has nicknamed her “Little Monsters” Gaga the “Mother Monster” has a popularity
