We cannot have any self respect for ourselves and our society if we know nothing of our past.

It is important to study history, to make sure we don't repeat the problems we did earlier. We must constantly evolve, and keep progressing while remembering our history. There are many conflicts that we don't want to happen again. Conflicts such as the world wars.

Germany, as for example, has prohibited any nazism on German soil. Turkey has prohibited any extremist parties from joing the Turkish elections. After World War II the United Nations, NATO and the EU was founded finding huge popularity in especially the countries that had suffered the most trough the hardships of the two recent wars. We should remember the sentiments of why people died in the great wars and why we should never fall to that again, and that we stil have much to learn because often enough people dont listen to the lessons of the past.

Knowing the past is also vital when drawing political conclusions, as for example knowing the fate of fascist states such as Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and communist states such as the USSR, and North Korea. Learning history is crucial for anyone wanting to progress in this life, for the persons wanting to benefit the most history is everything. Many sites promote learning about history. Wikipedia is a good site to search for things you want to know more about. Yes, history is a thing all intellectual persons must know. Especially 1900s history, the wars that shaped the world as it is today. World War I for example proved USA as a nation highly able to participate in conflicts across the atlantic. During World War II USA emerged as a industrial superpower, as the USSR did. History is an important issue if we want to keep evolving and secure peace and prosperity. It will always be.

By learning about our history, we learn about our forefathers. Just by learning basic history, you can draw conclusions and theories, making you capable of for example spotting who will win the presidential election, or how the relationship between the USA and North Korea will progress the coming years. There are a lot of reasons to learn about history, and once you have picked the initiative, you are not going to put it down again. History is not only important, it is also widely interessant for many people.
