It is wise to always remember your dog loves to check out its surroundings and they want to do it on their own terms. They do not like any form of restrictions put on them. Dog owners should never start walking or running without their dog on a leash. Owners should be aware that leashes assist in the development of their pet and it teaches them to become well behaved dogs. This will be helpful when they meet people who have their pets out for a walk or run. There are several benefits for using leashes, i.e., meeting a pack of animals/dogs that threaten the dog, prevent wild animal chasing, refrain their dog to the side walk and not in other peoples yards, and keeping the dog in your control and not theirs.

Leashes teach a dog who has control of them and who gives them their instructions. It also allows the owner to know their dog is safe and not threatened by other dogs and that you, as the owner, are keeping them protected. A leash is a form of training your dog to be well behaved and not a threat to people or other peoples animals.
