Razor Freestyle Scooter is a sports game for the Game Boy Advance. It was originally made by Crave Entertainment in 2000 for the PlayStation One, but was then ported over to the Game Boy Advance in 2001 for some additional cash earning. Unfortunately for them, there is no possible way that Razor Freestyle Scooter for the Game Boy Advance managed to earn solid dollars for the company. The game lacks key components that the original Razor Freestyle Scooter for the PlayStation One held. So without further ado, let the criticizing of the large number of flaws in Razor Freestyle Scooter for the Game Boy Advance begin.
First, the Game Boy Advance version of the game lacks a story plot. In the PlayStation One version, a group of friends lose some of their kind to an evil giant robot. In order for them to save all of their friends and even TIto Ortiz, an Ultimate Fighting Championship star, the group of friends must complete trick challenges with their scooters. Although this is ridiculously poorly thought out, a story plot is still a plot. Since the Game Boy Advance version lacks such a plot, there really is no reason for the gamer to play the game religiously. On it's own the game is already extremely boring and without a plot to guide and persuade the gamer to continue playing, there is no plausible necessity to playing the game.
Also, since the game lacks a plot, the gaming needs to be guided by extremely well planned gameplay, settings, and plain old fun. Razor Freestyle Scooter lacks all three.
The gameplay is extremely awkward because of its attempt at a three dimensional game in a Game Boy Advance atmosphere. There is a variety of funboxes, ramps, and verts to skate on, but without proper controls in the game, they provide no fun. The gamer moves around with the D-pad in the three dimensional environment, but the game is played through a semi-bird's eye view of the skate park. The turning is awkward and the directions even more so. It is a rather hard game to get the hang of. Then the tricks are dull and repetitive. Tricks can only be done on ramps or in the air, but with the Game Boy Advance's limited controls, they are easy to pull off yet provide no excitement. There is no glory in landing a trick in this game.
All in all, Razor Freestyle Scooter is a failure. Avoid it at all costs.
