Garlic's unpleasant odor is due to its sulphur content. Normally, we would not be able to smell our own bad breath until someone pointing it to us. Is it true that eating garlic also will produce a body odor?
My friend is chewing seven cloves of fresh garlic for health reason every night, normally before dinner. I ever joke with him that whether he is trying to send his wife away. He denied that completely defending that eating garlics, whether raw/cooked or those garlic supplements would not make our mouth and body smelly, but he got a secret to share it with us if we want to try.
He chewed many slices of cucumber and drink or sips slowly few glasses of warm plain water every time after dinner. And as many other people throughout the world do before bedtime, he also would gurgle and brush his teeth before bed. He uses mint flavored toothpaste. He has been doing this for many years now, and his wife never complaints of him neither having a bad breath nor body odor.
For those people who are unwilling to follow my friend advice, the best thing to do is to avoid eating garlic completely. Is it unnecessary to eat it when they are other more nutritious foods around? Other foods that not only taste better but also do not leave behind bad breath.
If you still like to eat it, go ahead, and don't deprive yourself from eating what you like best as nowadays they are plenty of mouth spray in the market. Though this is a temporary measure, it can be very useful, especially if you are out dating. Many of my friends suggested chewing mint gum as a way to avoid from being embarrassed with the garlic smell.
Nevertheless, it's unfair to put the blame on garlics 100% as the main cause of your bad breath. Besides garlics, bad breath can also be related to teeth and gum problems such as canker sore, gingivitis or periodontal diseases. Gum bleeding when brushing your teeth is the sign of these problems. Indigestion is another culprit that can cause bad breath.
In conclusion, here are the immediate remedies to reduce/remove the garlic breath and any other bad breath. Brush your teeth immediately if possible, rinse and gurgle your mouth, chew some cucumber, drinks a lot of warm water, use mouth spray and chewing gum if you so desire. Fresh parsley or strong mint is very effective to fight temporary bad breath.
For a long term remedy, do visit your Dentist regularly. Practice proper dental hygiene such as brushing your teeth regularly, flossing every time after a meal, rinse or gurgle your mouth more often or whenever your silver gives out funny taste. Make a habit of drinking a lot of warm water and include cucumber as your daily diet.
