Are you looking for a different kind of activity that will keep you fit, healthy, as well as improve your social life? Then join the Lake Washington Rowing Club today and find out how this organization can develop your sports skills as well as widen your circle of friends.
Here are just a few facts about Lake Washington and how the rowing club came about. The lake was discovered in the mid-1800s and was named after the country’s first president, George Washington. With an area of 88 square kilometers, it is the second largest natural lake in the northwestern state. Several rivers feed into the lake, and it holds an economic as well as cultural significance to the people who live in the area.
The natural beauty of the lake’s waters draws in many aqua sportsmen. It was in the 1950s when rowing fanatics established the Lake Washington Rowing Club. These members later on went to compete at the 1960 Rome Olympics. The club itself garnered various awards from local and international sporting events.
Within the next decade, women became members of the LWRC, and these ladies also gave pride to the club by competing in championships worldwide. Since then, many members have tried out for the rowing club, for reasons such as the desire to compete in events, or simply the joy of having a hobby to share with family and friends.
The rowing club provides classes for beginners and novices who want to try out the sport. They have tutorials from age groups 18 and below as well as adults. There are classes for individual rowing as well as team rowing.
The club’s website provides comprehensive information about class schedules and corresponding fees. Other than that, they also let the members know about upcoming events and competitions that they can join.
Aside from providing a venue for kids and adults alike to appreciate the sport of rowing, the LWRC has facilities that can be rented for special events. The beautiful boathouse that serves as the club’s headquarters over Lake Union provides breathtaking views of the waters, as well as complete amenities for banquets, weddings, dance events, and more.
The Lake Washington Rowing Club can be contacted through their official website at http://lakewashingtonrowing.com. For further information about memberships and classes, you may call them at (206) 547 1583, or visit their main office at 910 N. Northlake Way, Seattle, Washington. Experience a hobby unlike any other, and make lots of new friends as you stay fit and healthy!
