Album reviews: Infinity on High, by Fall Out Boy

I am a huge Fall Out Boy fan, but I was both excited and reluctant about this album. "From Under The Cork Tree" was one of the CD's I listened to during a bad breakup and a lot of life changes, so the songs were all very personal to me. Plus it was one of those albums I could listen to again and again and never get sick of. When Infinity on High was released, I halfheartedly downloaded a few songs and listened to them and never really got into it, apart from "This ain't a scene, it's an arms race" being drilled into my head by popular media until I had to like it.

On the long drive home from Taste of Chaos, we popped in Infinity on High so we could listen to it all the way through and really assess how I felt about it. Suprisingly, I loved it. The style is a lot different from my other Fall Out Boy albums, but it's very genuine and the lyrics are heartfelt, as usual. It doesn't hurt that the songs are catchy and singable. It won't replace "From Under The Cork Tree" for me, but it definitely earned a spot in my library.
