In some respects, it seems unfair to compare two such extraordinary talents. They both have very unique and individual qualities. Lady Gaga is aged 24 years old and her birth name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. Madonna is aged 51 years old and her birth name is Madonna Louise Ciccone. However there are some similarities which have started to emerge too. Lady Gaga and Madonna’s similarities:

Similarity Number 1

They are both American singing celebrities who have undeniable amounts of talent in the music industry.

Similarity Number 2

They have both made some very quirky music videos and have similar blonde haired appearances.

Similarity Number 3

 Up until 2008 Madonna was the top selling female music artist worldwide. It is thought that Lady Gaga might creep up on Madonna and be the next top selling female artist. Lady Gaga is following in Madonna’s footsteps.

Similarity Number 4

Both music artists have had some particularly famous and catchy songs:

Lady Gaga: Just Dance, Poker Face, Telephone with Beyonce

Madonna: Like A Virgin, Papa Don’t Preach, Hung up

Despite Lady Gaga and Madonna having a different number of ‘Number One singles’ it must be taken into account that Madonna is 27 years old than Lady Gaga so they are likely to have the same number of ‘Number One singles’ by the time Lady Gaga is Madonna’s age, or she may have far more.

Similarity Number 5

Madonna seemed to revolutionise dance music which Lady Gaga has definitely taken on in her albums. They are both singer song writers. Madonna has had well over 10 major dance albums which have all more or less made it into the top ten albums; this is also the case for Lady Gaga (but she does not have quite so many albums as Madonna).

Similarity Number 6

Both music artists originally made their way in the music industry from New York City in the USA. Lady Gaga has actually said that her icon or inspiration is Madonna, which suggests that she is following closely in her footsteps as well. It has been seen that Lady Gaga wears many costumes similar to that of Madonna.

Similarity Number 7

They both appeared on Saturday Night Live to have a cat fight on live television whilst dressed in leather lingerie. So they are both guilty for performing in something that puts them both to shame.

Similarity Number 8

Lastly, they are both hugely attractive, famous and sought-after singer songwriters that have played a memorable part in most people’s life of music.
