The goal of most online writers is to generate a passive income from their work, but to many it seems like a daunting task.  There are several ways of generating that passive income as a writer.  The process may take a little time, but earning that first dollar from something you love is exhilarating.

How do you start?
First, decide what type of material that you want to write.  This is the time where you try out all of the subjects that most appeal to you.  Do you love writing articles?  Can you write an awesome short story?  Find something that you're passionate about.

How are you going to make money?
A lot of folks will answer,  'I don't care, just give me the money!'  The scatter-shot approach will probably bring in money, but those with a developed plan will go further with their passive income efforts.  Knowing how you will make your money also determines what you need to do.

Here are some suggestions for making passive writing income:

♣  Sell your work for royalties
♣  Sell Adsense views
♣  Sell other advertisement
♣  Sell your own product
♣  Sell someone else's product

♣♣♣ Adsense views ♣♣♣
Many writers choose this method because it is faster than pursuing royalties and clients.  Adsense will pay you based on the number of clicks on their advertisements as well as on the number of page views that you receive.  The money that you make is highly dependent on the subject that you choose.

♣  Blogging
Do you love writing about a topic like losing weight, dog training or motivation?  Can you write a lot about this topic?  Are you considered to be an expert?  Blogging might be for you.  Free blog services like Blogger and Wordpress have easy to use widgets that you can apply to your site.

♣  Helium shares the ad revenues it makes with its writers.  They provide an already established site on which to put your articles and offers a residual income.  Not only do you have the opportunity to write about your favorite topic, you also gain residual income.
