Poetry: One step beyond
I made it to the edge of the road
the forest...dark and full of unknowns.
Tall trees loomed and swayed in the background
like they were beaconing me to take a step beyond.
I questioned myself...should I stroll among the tall pines
or turn around and leave the shadowy alone?
Fear gnawed at my bones
like a pack of wolves consuming their prey.
I stand with feelings of uncertainties and doubts
like a child left alone in a park.
My mind was reeling with apprehension
as I broke out in a cold sweat.
No, I'll not take one step beyond this point
I'll back away ensuring I do not step out of bounds.
Once a person decides to take the next step
they never know what lies ahead of them...
think before jumping into obscure surroundings.
