A time when a family unit vows of strength.
Along with solidarity with neighbors that lived nearby.
Doors were hardly closed to the outside world.
A time of family gatherings with picnics,
Lemonade stands and bake sales at church.
Purpose within a real community,
Living with less fear apposed today society.
It was a time when things were placed into perspective.
Family ties and family values.
Loyalty, dignity, trust, faith, hopes, and dreams
Held together with honor and respect.
The young learning from the elders a sense of balance.
Not taking things for granted.
Story telling time being told from long ago.
Making way for inventions.

Poetry: The good old days
Me and her, summer days wasting our lives away,
Not caring about tomorrow, just living for today,
Not worrying about what
Remember when dad was around
back when we were young
back before we knew sadness
and life had just begun
Back when days of summer
by Jyl Phillips
Tell me that story again Mommy…
Daddy lift me high above your head till I can’t giggle anymore…
Surround
by Sarah Terzo
"Words for Winter"
It's summer and
Warm sun beats down
I hunt bees
Stepping on each lazy buzz
I hear the boys with bicycles
by Kay Bee
Remember the good times
They'll serve you well
When life is hard
As tough as hell
Hot summer nights
Lying in bed
His strong shoulders
