When 2010 started, I travelled to Europe with two friends. We had planned to travel all over the continent, especially the west side visiting Madrid, Rome, Venice, Wien, Prague, Berlin, Paris, London, Dublin and Barcelona.
Of course, this trip was definitely going to be something to remember. I easily recall how people were in each country and which images my memory got from every place. Plus, I certainly feel some sensations that I felt when I was in specific places and whenever I remember the image, that same sensation comes to my mind again.
Madrid and Rome were the places where we felt most at home since we are from Argentina and people there spoke similar languages as we do in our country. Plus, in Rome we found that people treated you with the same expressive and somewhat enthusiastic style as we do back in our country. The places we visited were so beautiful and impressive that we could hardly stop staring at them: the Piazza Navona, the Fontana di Trevi, the Roman Colosseum, the Palatine Hill. Besides, winter was not as much present here as it was going to be in the future in other cities. Barcelona was quite like this as well with the only difference that Gaudí's architecture is so unique that you can't find anywhere else something like that.
We have to say that Berlin was a city that truly amazed us. It was one of the coldest in terms of weather, but people was actually quite friendly and respectful, always willing to help. We definitely fell in love with this city and its history, its monuments to remember about the bad things that happened in the past, the churches and universities. Everything around Berlin was like living in a fantasy city but without feeling far from home.
Finally, the north cities of London and Dublin were also spectacular and while the second one was warmer and cuter, they both made us feel in a completely different world. It was like actually feeling the presence of the water surrounding you and making living there quite particular, unique and marvelous. Touring through the spectacular monuments and landsights that London and Dublin offers you is not actually the most important since they are fabulous without any doubt: the most important thing is these two cities is to breath the air and really understand what is like to live on an island.
