{Here Lies Zachariah Heber}
"Here lies Zachariah Heber
A good man with a good heart"
Yes, here lies Zachariah Heber
A young man, not yet 20
Whose life didn't even start
Yes, here lies Zachariah Heber
Six feet under, cold and blue
Yes, Zachariah Heber
"With Each Child, The World Begins Anew"*
Here, under this tomb lies my Zachariah Heber
An improper burial for an improper death
Shot down in youth
He has taken his last breath
Here lies Zachariah Heber
Why does no one care?
Is it because, of his murder, only few knew?
Or is it because, simply, he is a Jew?
Footnote:
*"With each child, the world begins anew" is a Jewish proverb.

Hard Words
