Its become very difficult these days to be a TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS fan. Over the years the Leafs were able to just throw money at players during the offseason and trade away draft picks like it was their job to acquire players at the deadline. But the reality is now with the salary cap the Leafs are no longer able to do this.

Now the team and management is only concerned with making money and they can sell out games with ease but refuse to make any effort to rebuild this team when it is in desperate desperation of that. They overpay their current players who are often average and come off a good season. They should never have signed McCabe to the contract that they did, way too much for a player who is terrible defensively. Tuckers value was high earlier in the year and he should have been moved to acquire a young future star. But instead they shelled out the dollars for him. Then they could have even traded Mats Sundin as a rental player for prospects or draft picks. It may have taken a couple years to build but it could have been done with the current players and upcoming ones.
