Songs: Alcohol

by Kathy Mahon

Created on: July 20, 2010

I was in the Big Easy

For some relaxation and sun

Going to do some partying

And just have fun

Eying all the ladies

Hearing the music play

I walked into the barroom

And decided to stay

The barkeep grunted Howdy

What can I do for you?

Give me a hurricane

What it was I had no clue

A hurricane tasted awfully

Good

On that hot  and steamy day

Another asked the  barkeep

So I said okay.

Folks were glued to the news

Playing on the set

Then they laid the money out

And started taking bets

The barkeep saw me sitting

All quiet and alone

“another hurricane before you

head for home?”

Another, yes I think I will

I was feeling a bit queasy

But enjoying my first

Day in the Big Easy

Last call! Last call!

I drank my drink

A little surprised

And unable to think

I looked at the clock

It was only eight

Bars generally stay

Open very late

The barkeep laughed and

Said he won the bet again

Hurricane Katrina was

Scheduled to arrive at ten.

So goodnite my friend

You got one for the road

A hurricane to take home

For your very own.
