Faith and Obedience to God saved Noah and his family from being destroyed by the great flood. We benefit from the same priviledge if we have faith and obey God. We can trust HIM to save us and our family from any danger and trouble in our life.
One piece of information we have from Genesis (5.29) is that Noah was the son of Lamech. Lamech son of Methusela who was also the son of Enoch, walked with God. Noah was therefore the great grand son of Enoch. Enoch, the bible tells us, was raptured. Genesis 5:24 " And Enoch walked with God:and he was not; for God took him."
What we learn here is that Noah came from a generation who was already faithful to God and Noah continued in the same footsteps of his forefathers.
The son of Lamech was given the name Noah meaning: "This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed." Genesis (5:29). Noah had a mission. He would be a comforter and a saviour for his family. Before he knew it, he was assigned a duty to save himself and his family and thus continue the work of God.
THE CORRUPTED WORLD
In those days, the world was in deep mess. As its population increased, mankind became more and more corrupt and their intentions were totally malicious. Lovers of evil rather than lovers of God, they were involved in crime and lust and their heart was inclined to all sorts of sexual pleasures.
Genesis 6:1-4. "...that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose." to which the Lord said: "My spirit shall not always strive with man...".
There were so much filthiness that men did not leave any choice to God except to destroy them. It grieved God's heart to take such a decision. The pinnacle of His creation would be destroyed. Unfortunately not much was left to do about this unpleasant situation. To continue His plan, God had to wipe out the whole humanity except for one man- Noah. He would start afresh with Noah and his family.
NOAH THE MAN OF FAITH & OBEDIENCE
While the world was plunged into darkness and about to be destroyed, one man stood out from the crowd. Blameless, morally clean, trustworthy, honest and sincere, Noah walked firmly with God without stumbling. This man remained rooted in his faith and pleased God.
Contrary to his contemporaries,
