From the second spot on, there is little separation between the Minnesota Twins all-time home run leaders. However, the Twins' top home run hitter hit nearly twice as many home runs as any other player in team history. The Twins home run leaders are topped by a Hall of Fame slugger who played in 13 All-Star Games.
Harmon Killebrew: 559 home runs
Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew is the Minnesota Twins all-time home run leader. No other Twins player comes close to Killebrew's home run prowess. To fully illustrate his power, Killebrew still holds the seven highest home run totals in Minnesota Twins history. With 48, 45, and 49 home runs respectively, he led the American League for three straight seasons from 1962 to 1964; for his career as a whole, he totaled five home run crowns. In 1969, Killebrew took home the AL MVP with career highs of 49 home runs and 140 RBI. Until he was passed by Jim Thome in 2010, Killebrew ranked in the top ten of baseball's all-time home run leaders.
Kent Hrbek: 293 home runs
Ranking second on the Minnesota Twins all-time home run leaders list, Kent Hrbek spent his entire 14-year career with the team as an above-average hitter for virtually the whole time. From 1984 to 1991, Hrbek put together a string of eight consecutive 20-plus homer seasons, finishing his career with ten seasons of more than 20 homers. He peaked with a career high of 34 in the 1987 season.
Bob Allison: 256 home runs
Outfielder Bob Allison was a pure power-hitter. He often hit for a low average, finishing his career at a .255 clip, but he had seven 20-plus home run seasons with the Twins and ranked among the top ten in the American League in each of those seasons. In ten years in Minnesota, Bob Allison climbed to third on the Twins all-time home run leaders list.
Tony Oliva: 220 home runs
Tony Oliva was a great outfielder during the 1960s and is one of the Minnesota Twins all-time home run leaders. Oliva spent his whole career with the Twins from 1962 to 1976, becoming a full-time starter in 1964. He made the first All-Star team he was eligible for, won the Rookie of the Year Award, and started his career with eight straight All-Star appearances as a top hitter and a good power threat. Oliva hit 32 homers in his rookie campaign and added four more 20 homer seasons.
Kirby Puckett: 207 home runs
A perennial All-Star center fielder, Kirby Puckett ranks fifth among Minnesota Twins all-time home run leaders. Puckett was a great average hitter rather than a power-hitter, but he had a few strong home run seasons and spent his entire 12-year Major League career in Minnesota. He hit 20-plus home runs in six seasons including one 31 homer season in 1986. He earned a spot in every All-Star game from 1986 to 1995. A great player on both sides of the game, Kirby Puckett is one of the best players in Minnesota Twins history.
