Fit Flops are the combination fashion/fitness shoe craze that promises to give you a work out while you walk. They are based on flip flops, but feature new microwobbleboard technology which uses instability to increase the amount of work your legs do.
Benefits of Fit Flops:
Fit Flops claim to increase muscle activation in your bottom, thigh and calf which can improve fitness and tone. They improve your posture and can reduce stress on your back, knees and ankles. There is also evidence that they can help with a variety of medical conditions including sciatica, arthritis, restless leg syndrome, and a number of foot and back problems. Of course you should consult your doctor before use if you do suffer from any medical problems.
Appearance:
Fit Flops come in sandal, boot and clog styles. They're available in a wide variety of colours and range in appearance from plain and functional to sparkly and fun. They come in women's, men's and children's sizes.
Cost and Availability:
Fit Flops cost around $50 depending on the style you choose. They are available from a variety of online stores including Amazon, Victoria's Secret and Macys and a list of stores in your area can be found on the Fit Flops official website.
Durability:
Fit Flops should be replaced every 6 months to maximise results as there is no evidence that the microwobbleboard works efficiently after this amount of wear. If you only wear them in the spring and summer, a new pair at the start of spring will be appropriate. Of course, if you wear them all the time, expose them to adverse weather a lot, or machine wash them, they won't last as long. There is no reason the shoes can't be worn after 6 months if you don't want the fitness benefits though.
Use:
Fit Flops are suitable for everyday use although if you do little exercise it's best to only wear them for short periods at first until you get used to them. They're not suitable for hiking, cycling, or sports.
Care:
To clean your Fit Flops, simply use a little non-bleach laundry powder and an old toothbrush on the sole. The uppers should be cleaned according to the material they're made of, i.e. leather cleaner for leather, suede cleaner for suede, etc. Fit Flops should never be cleaned in the washing machine.
Comfort:
Fit Flops are extremely comfortable to wear. The thick sole means that you don't feel the sidewalk through them. They provide cushioning to the knees and ankles, reducing joint pain. These are some of the most comfortable shoes you'll own.
Results:
Using Fit Flops on a regular basis improves posture which in turn can make your stomach look flatter. The appearance of your legs and bottom are also improved, although don't expect drastic results from just these alone. To maximise the results you achieve, it helps to eat well too. Wearing these can definitely improve your appearance, so these are a great product either to supplement your regular exercise or to get you started if you're not ready for the gym yet, or simply don't have the time.
