The sun writes poetry across the sky
Relinquishing its hold on the light that sustains
And bows out gracefully and beautifully
To the moon that will rise for the night that remains
With an entire symphony of colors
Vivid yellow, intense orange, and vibrant red
Subtly surrounded by just the hint of blue
A chaotic blend of hues that sing inside our head
The sun is a woman, for who else could express
The bold ego of knowing so well her own beauty
Yet at the same time, give a glimpse of sadness
As she sets, a sense of insecurity
The sun knows she will rise again
And that life on earth she alone keeps alive
But every night as the moon climbs above her
She sees the joy the stars bring out so high
The sun must know that she is needed
But how she doubts sometimes
And so each dusk she spreads color like music
So her brilliance is sung throughout the skies
