The arrival of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff into TNA has to be considered a major moment. It was supposed to work and take TNA to the next level but it hasn’t done so just yet. Does that mean that they didn’t give it an effort? Not at all as the goal had been to get TNA higher ratings but has actually done the opposite in that their have been some moments where the numbers were down. Of course, not all of it is due to them. TNA, as a company, does not do a good job of promoting their own product. The question that will be asked is will be about the future for them in the company and maybe even the whole industry.
It is quite possible that they could be out of TNA soon. Whether that will happen is another story. There are reasons to think on that department. There have been rumors of some potential changes and one of them could see the contracts of both men expire never to be seen again. If that were to happen, it would mean that not even bringing him two men who have great minds in the industry could even work.
The main thought would be that the experiment failed. They no longer have the drawing power that they had at one point. In the case of Hogan, his probably faded away somewhere in the 2000s. Of course, it’s still a guess but not something that is a definite. People know who Hulk Hogan is without question. If he still has the drawing power he once had, then perhaps it would be best to go on a promoting spree getting the company known. For Eric Bischoff, he may still have something but probably not in the sense of what they are looking for to get people to watch. It takes something strong like good marketing. Maybe Bischoff could get involved with that. The ratings haven’t been great and were down in the Monday Night Impact show forcing them to go back to Thursdays.
Another would have to be that there are rumors of Paul Heyman coming into TNA. That one is more of a seeing to believing than it would be to simply say that it is a sure done deal. Without knowing if it is a done deal, it’s hard to say but that could have some potential motivation. Heyman and Bischoff have history with each other going back to their days in World Championship Wrestling. At one time, Heyman worked there but there was a falling out. While they probably respect what each other have done, they may not be able to work together because it could be like water mixing with oil.
Hulk Hogan is one that probably may be gone because of not being able to perform like he used to. He came in as a non-wrestler and probably should stay that way. The night he wrestled was just hard to watch and sad at the same time. He had back surgery and probably needed to so he could start being healthy. It is going to be advised not to have him compete. Maybe he comes to the realization that perhaps it didn’t work as well as he had hoped.
Either way, the question will be is Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff going to be in TNA much longer or will they simply be gone by the end of 2010?
