Onions are the vegetables that make us cry, but they also are the ones that help heal and protect our bodies when they are wounded or ill. Onions contains load of organic sulfur, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. They help prevent and treat several different types of cancers, but you have to eat onions raw in order to get the full health benefits from them.
The reason raw onions are better for you raw is because when you cook them they lose their sulfur and nutritional content. They become less potent and do not prevent or treat illnesses, cancers, or wounds the same way they would if they were raw. When we cook an onion it also loses a compound in it called allicin. Allicin is another important compound that helps fight off bacteria, illnesses, cancers, and diseases. Allicin also helps treat open wounds and helps keep the heart and colon very healthy.
When you eat onions raw some of the health benefits you will receive will be lower blood pressure, less constipation, healthier arteries, strong lungs, normal blood pressure levels, less stress, fewer colds and flus, lower cholesterol levels, healthier urinary tract, less hemorrhoids, and less blood clotting. Raw onions also help prevent stomach, colon, breast, prostate, and lung cancers. I personally find that eating raw onions help relieve some of the symptoms associated with my autoimmune disease. When I had a lung infection raw onions along with raw garlic helped me cough up phlegm so I could breathe properly again and much easier.
Some of the best ways to eat raw onions are in a veggie salad and in veggie dips. I personally love making my own antibiotic by crushing up some onions and garlic and mixing them with about 2 tablespoons of honey and swallowing the mixture down with some water when I have a cold and need to speed up the healing. The other ways is by adding a few slices of raw onions with my sandwiches or on top of a baked potato with some crushed raw garlic. I know some people love eating raw onions straight up, but many of use do not, but there are several ways to get raw onions into our diet without eating them straight up.
Remember onions do more than just make us cry. They also help keep our bodies healthy and get us healthy again when we are sick. So go chop up some raw onions and start adding them to your meals and suck some down to get the full health benefits from them.
