Why your dog may hate your boyfriend or girlfriend

Dogs are very loyal and sensitive creatures. They tend to pick up on moods, emotions and an owner's change of affection very quickly. There are many reasons why your pet may start acting a bit strange after being introduced to your new girlfriend or boyfriend.

Here are some reasons why pets may not adjust to the special person in your life:

1. The dog may feel that you are not giving him/her enough of attention, and this could damage the future relationship between you and the new man or woman in your life.

2. You may have bougth the dog as an antidote to being lonely, and now that you have met some else ; you find it hard to spend the time that you used to with your pet. This does not have to be forever, but the dog may have become second favorite after that special person walked into your life.

3. Your pet may just be a very passionate and jealous creature. The mutt may want to selfishly keep the love and bond that you and him/her share just for the two of you, and there is no way that this stubborn animal will allow another person to be more important than him/her.

4. Did it ever occur to you that the new man or woman in your life hates pets. He/She may just hate dogs, and the two may have never gotten along in the fist place. The pet may be able to pick up on vibrations that the boyfriend/girlfriend does not like animals, and the dog may feel threatened, if this relationship goes to the next level.  What will happen to the pet? This may worry the dog as he/she may be spending the next Christmas in the pound. No dog wants that, especially if you have shown him/her the good life.

5. You may have been showering the dog with love and affection, and now that there is a new man or woman in your life, this pet is taken second place. The pet may feel isolated, and view the boy/girlfriend as the root of his/her problems. Remember that dogs are very clever animals, and do not just forget their owner. They know when the owner is sad, happy or even missing. They may sense that you are moving to another stage of your life and the pet does not want to miss out.
