Eight Tips to Monetize Your Website and Boost Your Profits
Is your website not making as much money as you hoped? If so, don't give up. Instead, improve it so it generates more income. Follow these tips and you’ll see your website profits soar.
1. Make your website as user-friendly and easy to navigate as possible. Look at it as though you were an unbiased visitor. Make sure your website uses legible, standard fonts such as Verdana or Arial as well as colors that are easy on the eyes. Now, take a look at the images on your website. Are they relevant and do they convey the meanings you want? If not, either replace them or eliminate them as unnecessary clutter. Next, test every link on your website to ensure they lead your visitors to the right places. Make sure every important page on your website is accessible to visitors by creating a site map that links to every one of them. Make your site easier to navigate by placing a link to your site map on every page.
Never make a visitor create an account before being able to access your website’s content. This practice is fairly common but can be the kiss of death for even the best website. If your site incorporates a shopping cart, make sure you test it thoroughly. After all, you don’t want your visitors to abandon their purchase because they were unable to make your shopping cart work properly. Ensure that your visitors have as many ways of contacting you as possible, including your email address, telephone number and an instant help or chat function if possible. Visitors sometimes have questions before purchasing, so make it as easy as possible for them to get the answers they need.
2. Once your website is spiffed-up, use some effective search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to help the all-important search engines find your website more easily. Use each page’s Title tag to give your site’s pages their own unique page titles that include pertinent keywords. If you don’t use a Title tag, the search engines will report your website’s title as “Untitled,” and you don’t want that. Despite some recent debate, it’s still worth it to include meta tags (which tell the search engines what your site is about) above the body of each page’s source code. You also want to include a Description tag, which provides the description
