Are you wondering whether or not you should post your poems on your blog? Perhaps you've read that blogging your poems is a waste of time? Although a blog can be about poems if you choose to go down this path I predict that you will be limiting your readership. Of course that is fine if all you want is a place to display your poems, but if you are looking to make money via avenues such as Google Adsense, then I would suggest you diversify your blog a little.
So, in answer to your question I think it's perfectly fine to blog your poems as long as your blog contains more than just poems. Sure there are people who love to read blogs but you want your blog to reach more than just poetry lovers. I have poems on my blog but because I want to reach a greater audience I also post about other subjects ranging from short stories, SEO to ways of making money on the net. Every now and again I will throw in a poem and where possible I'll try to write a poem that is related to blogging or SEO.
I love posting poems on my blogs because it allows others to read them and if they like a particular poem they will also leave a comment. It's this interaction that makes blogging your poem so much more enjoyable than to just have them sitting in a folder somewhere. It's also the interaction that will help you to become a better poet as it's through those very comments that people leave that will teach you how to improve your poems. It's also through those comments that you will find others who also love to read and write poems. People who may actually link to your poems sharing them with others. You won't get this sort of interaction by having them in print.
If you're going to have poems on your blog I suggest you give it it's own category making it easier for others to find them. I also suggest that you post an image in your post that reflects your poem as this will make it stand out so much more. Once you have a good selection of poems you may even consider placing them in an eBook as a free download for your readers. This would be a great way to gain subscribers for your list if you are that way inclined.
