When time came pouring like rain
The walls that were built up decayed
The world that was lush and green
Was but a shell drawn out to sea
All the wonders that had been bottled up
Smashed against my will to let it be
If I had to walk that path again
That long dark road with no lights on
I'd grind by teeth and turn to dust
Cold heart burdened with mistrust
The hand that sways that's lifted and knocked away
I couldn't go back if you couldn't stay
If to invest myself was my only chance
The time has gone the rain has ceased
The crumbling inside me has fallen before
I've come back to that feeling once more
This is my farewell to that open door

Poetry: If you were gone
You Without Me
Oh what can it be
When I see you without me
The uneasiness of it all
And wrestling with my heart
Of being alone
We only met two years ago
But you are a constant in my life
The one thing that keeps me steady
When everything else is full
If you were gone
My life would be so much simpler
No calling to check on you
No going to pick up your mail
No going to pick
While I am here with you,
Close to my heart you will stay.
Never did I imagine
A love so fine.
With you,
My heart sings.
Because
by Helen Stuart
If you were gone
I'd have no reason to listen
For pick-up motors roaring
Into the driveway.
No smell of cigars
On your flannel
