Divorce is almost always extremely difficult, often devastating to one or more of the people involved. Between the emotional stress and the energy needed to get through the process, one is often left feeling empty, without direction and unmotivated to make improvements.
One thing that is particularly helpful after divorcing is to find a good divorce care group. Some churches offer these support groups and they are very helpful. Starting over after divorcing is not easy, especially trying to cope alone, so it's important to lean on the help of other people who have walked that path or who are currently experiencing it.
Another important thing to do after divorce is to start socializing with friends. Alone in the house and alone inside one's head is not a healing place to stay. Being with other people, especially friends who love and care for each other, is critical.
Finally, there is something a person can do after a divorce that may seem impossible or at least difficult, but it can help speed the healing process so much. Prayer is a powerful thing and praying for one's ex-spouse even more so. Praying for one's ex-spouse will aid in the healing process as one lets go of resentments and anger through prayer.
After a divorce, recovery to a normal and happy life seems unlikely, but many people do it everyday. There is hope and there is help. Trudge along the path of progress until the feet become a bit lighter and the journey more pleasant.
