Many Christians are under the belief system that you must be baptized to be saved. And that baptism should be performed on babies. Both belief systems are wrong and not found in the bible.
Nowhere in the bible does it state that in order to go to heaven you must be baptized. The only way to make it to heaven is to accept Jesus into your heart and know that he died on the cross at calvary for your sins. To know that you know with all your heart that Jesus was sacrificed for you. You must accept that you are a sinner and have sinned and repent of your sins.
You can be baptized numerous times but this act alone will not give you favor with God. In order to be saved you must be accountable for your sins. You must have reached an age of accountability. An age where you know right from wrong. The same applies to baptism. In baptism you are washed clean of your sins. A baby has never sinned. They do not know right from wrong yet. There is no need for baptism. As a baby we come into this world with a clean slate. No sin has been committed.
John the Baptist was not asking babies to repent from their wicked way in the Jordan river. Babies have no sin to repent of. Baptism of infants serves no purpose to the child for the child is already without sin. If the infant were to die the baby would automatically go to heaven.
Many will have their babies baptized yet when the child reaches the age of accountability, they do not choose to have them baptized again. They do not have the child confess their sins to God but to man instead in the form of confession to a priest. This is religion and not a personal relationship with the lord. The only way to heaven is through the son. Baptism alone will not get you there.
If you have not yet reached the age of accountability knowing right from wrong you will be with your father in heaven. You do not have to be baptized at all to go to heaven, baby or adult. You must be saved and this is the only way.
To baptize a baby serves no purpose and is an unnecessary ritual being performed. If you choose to be baptized it should only be done when the child reaches the age of knowing right from wrong and still this alone will not assure your presence in heaven with the father.
You must at some time accept Jesus Christ into your heart.
