Xomba is an online site that combines social networking, article writing and bookmarking in one simple system.  Xomba users may be writers, poets, social networking giants or everyday people who have something to share.  Xomba allows you to create content that you can share with others.

What Type of Content Does Xomba Allow?

Xomba users are encouraged to submit bookmarks or articles. The content must belong to the person who is uploading the content. Bookmarks must contain 50 words that describe what the user is referencing. Articles must be 150 words, may contain photographs and may include links to other websites. Xomba does not allow pornography nor do they allow any activities which may be considered illegal.

Why Do People Use Xomba?

Unlike other social networking sites, and like some bookmarking sites (RedGage or SheToldMe for example) Xomba pays their users for content.  Payments are made on page views through the users Google AdSense accounts. Xomba contributors are encouraged to submit their work and promote it through Facebook, Twitter and other sites that will encourage viewers to read their pages.

What is the Social Aspect of Xomba?

Xomba has a very active community of contributors who not only submit information, but also read bookmarks and articles that other users have submitted.  Members of the Xomba community are free to comment on items as well as mark them as favorites, vote on them and engage other users.  Community members are also free to engage other community members in discussions about "hot topics".

Is There a Downside to Xomba?

Xomba does have a downside, and you should carefully weigh the downside before you open an account.  The information that is submitted to Xomba is not reviewed for quality.  This often results in poorly written content, spam bookmarks selling the latest "get rich quick" scheme and other questionable content. This is not to suggest that all of the content at Xomba is of poor quality, it just is not as high a quality as it could be if there were more control over the content.

The benefits of using Xomba can be numerous. They have a very generous payout ratio of 50% of the advertising revenue that is generated from your content.  In addition, Xomba has numerous categories that community members may select from to submit their work.  Each category also has two featured writers and community members with a specific interest in a category may request to be featured writers.

Summary

Xomba is a growing community that like other communities will likely go through various stages as they mature. Since their founding in 2006, they have made some positive changes in how the site works and found new ways to encourage additional revenue generation.  If you are interested in joining a community that offers a way to socialize with new people as well as share your work, Xomba could be the right avenue for you.  Xomba does make use of "pop up" advertising so be aware of this.
