The question of the morality of the hunt is a good one that can be approached on different sides. The pro's of hunting are conservation, Hunting for consumption, and for the purpose of fellowship and togetherness. Hunting promotes conservation by population control. It is logical to think that if you thin out the population of the game in which you are hunting there will be less competition during the harsh winter months. By lessening competition, you will help promote a healthier population during the winter and the rest of the year. Hunting for consumption pretty much speaks for itself. You are putting food on your table and in many areas others. For example, in my area there is a program during deer season where hunters can donate their game to organizations that help the needy. Hunting for fellowship and togetherness is a great way to bond with family and friends ,and teach responsibility.
However there are also cons to hunting. Some people hunt for the pure reason of getting a "trophy kill". I think it is morally wrong to just kill something just for the thrill of doing so. I have come across many animals in the timber land near my home that were just left to rot and stripped of the desirable parts like antlers and heads. Also there are some people that i don't feel are responsible or intelligent enough to hunt. every deer season i make sure my horse is in her barn because a lot of our neighbors lose livestock to irresponsible hunters who either don't know the difference or don't take the time to identify there targets. Well there you are. These are my views of the morality of hunting
