Memoirs: Friendship

by Joyce Ann Mallare

Created on: July 12, 2010

Each individual has its own circle of friends. They have different interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes. They maybe far yet they still find ways to communicate and visit you in order to keep the friendship going. They share what they have. They listen to the both sides of the story. They make you smile when you are sad. They laugh and cry  together with you. The list goes on as the years spent with them will always be cherished. Thank goodness I have those friends.

We’ve been together now for six years. I’ve known then since I was in college. They are the greatest and coolest people I’ve known. I remembered the very first day that I’ve met them. They have this place that they hang out after school. This is the place where everything started out. I mean our friendship. This place is very important to us. This is the place where we do nothing, just talk and laugh the whole day. Then suddenly someone would ask if they would like to drink beer. Everyone would agree. Some would skip class just to be with the drinking sessions. These drinking sessions were done everyday though we still go to school somewhat tipsy. These were the times where we’ve really known each other. There are the jokers, who always give out the funniest punch lines. There are the serious ones yet very sensible and of course there are the skaters and the musicians. There are the fast talkers and I mean literary, just like Chris Tucker in Rush Hour. We have different age groups, ideas and opinions but we get along just fine.

One thing more that I cannot forget were the outings, night outs, house sittings, movie marathons, picnics, birthdays and sleepovers. Those were the days that really bonded us together, though one of our friends had to say goodbye. I mean he did not go to another country or province, he just found a place where everything is peaceful. He was washed away from the seashore and pulled him down under. That was the saddest day the group ever encountered. We never talked with each other for about two weeks but we are still together. We were still trying to accept everything that had happened. It was really hard at first but then there wasn’t anything that we can do. What we have of him are his memories that will never be forgotten.

The friendship had gone from easy times to hard times through good and bad yet it stands still like the Stonehenge. They all have their own lives now, working, going to school again or busy with their own businesses what matters most is we’re still have each other no matter what happens.
