Buying a birthday present for your boyfriend can be tricky enough, but it is even worse if you have only been dating for a few months.  You do not want to buy him a birthday present that will scare him off, so something small is normally appropriate. On the other hand if he has been extremely generous towards you, i.e. pays every time you go for dinner, you may want to splash out on something special to show your appreciation.   Buying a birthday present for your new boyfriend need not be difficult, as there are numerous gifts you could buy.  

Car accessories are good for little boy racers or boyfriends who adore their car. Most guys’ cars are their pride and joy so some fancy air fresheners, cleaning kits, or dashboard toys will please your new boyfriend.

Concert or sports tickets are great for boyfriends that love music. You do have to be careful here to ensure that you buy him a concert ticket for a band he likes and similarly tickets to a football game of the team he supports.  If you do not want to spend money on a concert ticket then a CD of his favorite group would make a great birthday present, provided he does not already own it.  Another option is an iTune gift card which will let your boyfriend pick the songs he wants to download.

Gift cards are a great idea for a birthday present if you have only been together a few weeks. If you have been going out less than a month, then do not spend more than $20-$30 on a gift card.  There are many places which you can buy gift cards for including his favorite clothes stores, a music store, or even a restaurant.

If your new boyfriend has a sweet tooth why not make up a mixed bag of sweets and chocolates for him. You could also make him a birthday cake or some buns for him to enjoy on the day of his birthday.

If you have no idea what to buy your new boyfriend for his birthday why not take him out for dinner to his favorite restaurant. This will make a nice change for him, especially if he is always paying for you.

The birthday present you choose will depend on how much you love him, how well you know him and how serious you are about him.  If you have been dating less than a month then consider a small gift, whereas if you have been together for a few months you can be more extravagant and treat your boyfriend to a small gadget or aftershave.
