Explaining the causes of sleep deprivation

Sleep deprivation is a major problem in the modern society.There are numerous factors contributing to it.A few of these include increased stress levels,improper diet,sedentary lifestyle and others.However the epidemic of sleep deprivation can be attributed in a nutshell to what is termed as "Non-maintainence Of Sleep Hygiene".If you know the parameters by which you can maintain sleep hygiene, you automatically come to know how &/ where you are introducing Unhygienic Sleep Habits into your life,responsible for Sleep Deprivation.Sleep Hygiene can be maintained by the following simple steps:1)Do not consume caffeinated beverages like tea/coffee after 4 p.m,caffiene being a major nerve stimulant and one of the main causes of sleep deprivation,2)Try and quit smoking abruptly(study shows gradual withdrawal has almost no success rate),as nicotine also irritates the nerves apart from other dangerous consequences,3)Do not consume Cola drinks as they too contain caffeine after 4 p.m.,4)Go to sleep only when you are feeling sleepy.Please understand feeling sleepy and feeling tired are 2 different things,altogather and should not be confused,5)If after going to bed you cannot fall asleep within 30 mins,get up and do the thing which bores you most(if watching a particular soap opera on television bores you to hell watch it if you know it is being telecast then),6)Use the bed only for sleeping and not for doing any leftover office work/watching television/listening to songs on the discman/reading novels/writings letters etc.,7)Drinking hot milk befor going to bed(if you are not allergic to milk that is) certainly does help in inducing sleep, 8)Eat a light dinner(fried foods,the heavy club sandwich,the vivid latin roll of beef et al are a strict no-no) and try and walk a little in the street or lawn outside or maybe within the house for 10-15 odd minutes or so,9)During summer take a bath with cool water and during winter with warm water before going to bed and lastly,10)DO NOT WATCH any films or clips on internet or television which implicit or highly explicit sexual content;this my dear is one of the 100% foolproof ways of ensuring Sleep Deprivation which we just do not seem to realise.So to sum up Unhygienic sleeping habits are the cause of Sleep Deprivation and maintanence of Sleep Hygiene ensures that your favourite place in the night is only your lovely bed.
