The Hardest Choice
A pink plus sign materializes,
Nine months to worry, wonder.
Hundreds of decisions to make.
Three trimesters of anxiety, amazement.
Fourteen hours filled by many tears, latent fears.
Delicate second thought
could-be plans as flimsy as spurs
embraced by orchid petals dissipate.
One innocent life
Two would-be Mothers
High school drop-out crying.
Married and established jealous, pacing.
Two days pass, discharged.
Time to go. With or without. One more
last minute fanciful image of playing in grass
She cries, gives wet kisses to his sleeping face
