Poetry: Suffering

Only to be free.

It's like static on the radio,
this constant white noise keeps me awake,
there's no switch to turn it off,
no way to make them go away.

Gentle whispers and Thundering voices,
I sit with my head between my knees,
they leave me so few choices.

So cold in my heart,
so hot is my skin,
I'm burning alive,
and they're locking me in.

I can't take this anymore,
its been so long since I've been free,
I'm drowning in my own mind,
these thoughts are suffocating me.

Been pounding on the walls
pounding until my knuckles break,
all of you please get out,
you're driving me insane for Christ's sake!

My pleas go unheard,
within my throat the screams are stuck.
I see my hand reaching for a knife,
I know I'm out of luck.

Searching for so long,
no freedom in site.
i've been trapped in here for years,
I've run completely out of fight.

The blade as cold as Ice,
dragging across the flesh,
Seeing my wasted life spill,
I close my eye to rest.

The noises die away,
now I've found,
there was no other choice,
dying was my only way out.
