Ouch! Tooth pain, the scourge of the modern world! Nothing makes your eyes water and your face cringe more than thinking about tooth pain. Everyone has had it at some point, and everyone wants to get rid of it quick, fast and in a hurry.
While tooth pain should really be treated by a dentistry professional, what do you do if you can't see one immediately? Looking for fast relief from tooth pain? Try these simple home remedies straight out of your grandmother's kitchen.
Mouth washes - sometimes the pain can be caused by something simple like a piece of food stuck in the tooth. Rinse vigourously with warm water to dislodge any food in the affected area, then floss to ensure everything has been removed.
If the pain continues, repeat but add a pinch of salt to the water. Salt helps to disinfect the mouth and get rid of any germs and harmful bacteria building up in the mouth.You can also use a hydrogen peroxide wash by mixing one teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with one tablespoon of baking soda into a cup of water which will help kill germs and bacteria in the mouth.
A quick remedy for pains in the mouth is to take a shot of whiskey. That's right, whiskey. Hold a shot of whiskey in your mouth and swish it around for about 30-45 seconds before spitting it out. The alchol content sterilizes the mouth and has a numbing effect which will help relieve pain in the gums or tooth nerves. Pure vanilla extract also works as a numbing agent when it is swished in the mouth for a minute or two.
Garlic and onion both have amazing antibiotical qualities which have been used for centuries to relieve tooth pain, mouth sores and other dental related pain. Place a sliver of fresh cut garlic on the affected tooth for a few minutes to help kill infection. Garlic teas can be used throughout the day to relieve tooth pain and are also touted for their helpful effect on digestive problems. Chewing one whole onion for three minutes will completely cleanse the mouth and kill harmful bacterias. A sliver of onion placed on the affected tooth or gum area for a few minutes helps aleviate infection that may be causing tooth pain.
Abscessed teeth can be treated at home for immediate relief in several ways. First the abscess needs to be brought to the surface of the gum by chewing on peppermint leaves throughout the day, or applying a paste made from raw oats, baking soda and a tsp. of water.
